After court ruling Mumbai Mayor takes a swipe at Kangana Ranaut, calls her 'do takke ke log'

Mumbai/IBNS: Hours after the Bombay High Court reprimanded the Mumbai civic body's order of demolishing a part Kangana Ranaut's office, Mayor Kishori Pednekar launched a scathing attack once again, referring to the Bollywood actor as "do takke ke log (worthless people)".

"Everyone is surprised that an actor comes to Mumbai, from Himachal Pradesh, and calls it PoK. Then there are complaints against her. Do takke ke log (worthless people) want to turn the court into a political (circus). This is wrong," Pednekar told news agency ANI on Friday.

"We will study the court's judgement but you have also seen how she was trolled in social media for her remarks. We didn't take revenge," she said.

Pednekar's comment came on a day when the court has said the demolition action by the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) "was nothing but malice of law".

However, Pednekar insisted that the BMC had acted "according to municipal rules" but "will not disrespect the court".

"We will not disrespect the court order. We will study the order and we will see what orders the High Court has passed on the use of the same section of the law in the past," she said.

Terming the portion of the bungalow which has been demolished as "pre-existing", the Bombay High Court has appointed a valuer to quantify the damage.

Ranaut was entitled to get the compensation, ruled the court.

Reacting to the judgement, Ranaut earlier tweeted, "When an individual stands against the government and wins, it’s not the victory of the individual but it’s the victory of the democracy. Thank you everyone who gave me courage and thanks to those who laughed at my broken dreams. Its only cause you play a villain so I can be a HERO."

Ranaut and Maharashtra's ruling party Shiv Sena were at the loggerheads after the 'Queen' actor questioned Mumbai Police's role in the probe into Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

The BMC had demolished the construction of Ranaut's bungalow calling it as "illegal".
