Action is initiated after the hacking of MoD website: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Apr 6 (IBNS): The official website of the Indian Ministry of Defence was hacked on Friday, officials said.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman confirmed the matter and said the website will be restored shortly.

She said action has been initiated following the hacking of the website.

"Action is initiated after the hacking of MoD website ( http://mod.nic.in  ). The website shall be restored shortly. Needless to say, every possible step required to prevent any such eventuality in the future will be taken. @DefenceMinIndia @PIB_India @PIBHindi," Sitharaman tweeted.

Meanwhile, the website of the Union Home Ministry is also down.

According to media reports, Chinese characters were earlier seen in the hacked website of the Ministry of Defence.
