New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, who is in jail in connection with an alleged Delhi liquor policy scam, has not been granted permission to take oath as the Rajya Sabha MP on Monday.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar refused to allow Singh to take the oath as RS MP, stating that his case is currently with the Privileges Committee of the House, sources said.

Singh, elected for the second time to the Rajya Sabha from the national capital last month, had sought permission from the court to participate in the Parliament's budget session, and the court granted him approval to take the oath on Monday.

He has already completed one term in the Upper House.

However, he has been in jail since October of last year in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor excise policy, which was scrapped in July 2022.
