Nusrat Jahan’s fashion mantra steals the spotlight at Kolkata garments fair: ‘First priority would always be Indian’
Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali film actor Nusrat Jahan last week inaugurated the third edition of the RTC & STC Garments Fair at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre
Businesses representing more than 10 major cities took part in the fair, which was held from August 14 to August 15.
Speaking to the media, Nusrat said, "I am delighted to be a part of the opening ceremony of the RTC & STC Garments Fair. It is wonderful to see brands and businesses from different parts of the country coming together in Kolkata.

"Such platforms provide valuable opportunities for the garment industry, while also giving customers access to a wide variety of products and the latest fashion trends under one roof."
Reflecting on the balance between traditional Indian and western fashion, she told IBNS, "We are wearing clothes from all over the world; Indians have gone global. So we definitely should uphold our integrity and culture in the first place, but we are very open to testing and trying other cultures as well. But the first priority would always be Indian."

She further highlighted the convenience for people of Kolkata to have all these brands under one roof, giving them a good chance of shopping during the weekend before the beginning of the nation’s festive season.

Chief Executive Officer of RTC and STC Garments, Manish Bhadani, talked about the importance of providing a platform to budding garment businesses across the country.
He said, "Our objective is to create a strong business and sourcing platform where buyers can directly explore products from different garment hubs across India.
"With 200+ participating brands from 10 cities, this edition brings together a diverse range of products across categories, with a special focus on the latest trends for the upcoming festive season."

The fair promoted diversity with brands from all across the country, with brands from major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kanpur, Indore and many others taking part in the fair.
The fair hosted more than 2,000 visitors and 1,500 customers in the span of two days, enabling shoppers to explore a diversified portfolio of clothing styles and traditions and creating opportunities for greater collaboration among the garment industry of the nation.
