Indian-origin software engineer earns nearly Rs 1 lakh a day from her ‘side hustle’ in US

An Indian-origin software engineer has left the internet surprised after revealing how much she earns from her mehendi art skills in the US.

In an Instagram video, Priyancka Jaiin showcased the balance she maintains between her software career and her passion for mehendi art.

Jaiin said her software job helps her pay her monthly bills, while her artistic skills allow her to earn additional income on the side.

According to Jaiin, she charges $100 per hour for her mehendi designs, which is roughly equivalent to Rs 9,000–Rs 10,000. She also revealed that her clients often offer her an additional 20 per cent as tips.

The artist said a detailed 10-hour wedding assignment can earn her around $1,200, or nearly Rs 1 lakh, in a single day.

Comparing her experience in the US with India, Jaiin said mehendi artists are often not considered to have a conventional or respected profession in India. However, she said she feels valued as an artist in the US.

“Here I am seen and respected as an artist,” she said.

Her video quickly attracted attention online, with several users praising her work and designs.

“So beautiful!” one user commented.

“Beautiful design,” another wrote.

“Love it,” a third user said.
