Scores of urea fertiliser producers recently demonstrated outside Digri press club in Pakistan against rising prices and demanded the government to announce subsidies for essential farm inputs without delay to facilitate the agriculture sector.

The protesters led by Saifullah Gill, Shafique Kaimkhani, Mohammad Ayub Arain and others blamed the government for rising prices of urea, which had caused increase in per acre cost expenses that had out of control, reported Dawn News.

They said the urea was being sold for over Rs5,000 per bag while growers were facing serious financial problems as costly diesel, pesticides and now fertiliser.

The protesters even demanded immediate announcement of subsidy on the farm input.
