Trump Says Paris Will Become ‘Muslim City Very Soon’, Blames Macron’s Immigration Policies

US President Donald Trump has claimed that Paris would soon become a “Muslim city”, blaming French President Emmanuel Macron’s immigration policies for unrest in France and urging the country to tighten its borders.

“Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon, and that wasn’t the deal,” Trump told reporters on Monday, October 19, while criticising Macron for allowing large numbers of immigrants into France.

“I told Emmanuel you should close up your borders,” he said, adding that he had warned the French leader about immigration years ago.

Trump linked the unrest in France to immigration, rejecting the suggestion that other domestic issues were responsible. In a separate post on his Truth Social platform, he wrote: “The migrants have taken over France. They must close the borders, fast.”

His remarks came amid demonstrations and violent unrest in France, including reports of looting, arson and clashes with police.

Trump has used the situation to reinforce his long-standing argument for stricter immigration controls, portraying France as a warning of the consequences of what he considers permissive border policies.

While Trump’s prediction about Paris becoming a Muslim city is a political assertion, there are no established demographic projections since France does not collect official census data on religious affiliation.

It makes precise assessments of the Muslim population difficult.

His comments also do not, by themselves, establish immigration as the cause of the unrest.

The remarks are likely to intensify debate over immigration, religious identity and social cohesion in France, as well as the wider political divide over migration policy in Europe and the United States.
