Treason: Iranian scientist executed?
He has been identified as Shahram Amiri.
He reportedly provided information on Iran's nuclear programme with the US.
Shahram Amiri was executed for giving "vital information to the enemy", a judiciary spokesman was quoted as saying by BBC.
A spokesman for Iranian judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, was quoted saying by BBC: "Through his connection with the United States, Amiri gave vital information about the country to the enemy."
