| | May 08, 2016, at 10:53 pm
Aleppo, May 8 (IBNS): The Spanish government on Sunday said three journalists who were kidnapped in conflict-hit Syria have been freed, media reports said.

The Spanish reporters are expected to return to their nation soon.

The journalists have been identified as Antonio Pampliega, Jose Manuel Lopez and Angel Sastre .

They had disappeared from the northern city of Aleppo 10 months ago while working in Syria, media reports said.

Militant group Islamic State (IS) reportedly controls parts of Aleppo.

However, it is not  clear who had kidnapped the three journalists.

"The Spanish government statement said that the men were safe and well, and waiting in Turkey to be brought back to Spain," BBC reported.

Elsa Gonzalez, the president of Spain's federation of journalists, was quoted as saying by BBC that the news was a cause for "joy and emotion".
