Nobel Prize-winning South African author Nadine Gordimer dies

Johannesburg, July 14 (IBNS) Nobel Prize-winning author Nadine Gordimer passed away at her home in South Africa's Johannesburg city on Sunday, media reports said on Monday.

She was 90.

Gordimer was on of the powerful voices against apartheid.

Born in  1923, she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991.

She had penned down above 30 books in her life.

According to her Wikipedia profile, She was active in the anti-apartheid movement, joining the African National Congressduring the days when the organization was banned. She was also active in HIV/AIDS causes.

Author  Paulo Coelho tweeted: "'You can't change a regime on the basis of compassion. There's got to be something harder' We will miss you, Nadine Gordimer."
