Japan: Typhoon hits Kyushu region

Tokyo, July 10 (IBNS): Powerful typhoon Neoguri hit Japan's southernmost main island of Kyushu on Thursday, media reports said.

The typhoon hit the  island of Kyushu after it lashed  islands of Okinawa, bringing heavy rains in the area.

The storm made landfall close to the city of Akune, Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Kyushu.

According to reports, at least three people have died and several others have been injured across the nation.

"The typhoon brought heavy rains to western Japan. In Seiyo, Ehime Prefecture on the smallest main island of Shikoku, a 77-year-old man was confirmed dead after being found collapsed in a waterway," Kyodo News Agency reported
