Israel redeploying forces along the border with Gaza

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS) Israel said it has authorized a humanitarian window to take place in the Gaza Strip on Monday.

"The IDF will continue to neutralize the Hamas tunnel network and will respond to any attempt to harm Israeli civilians or soldiers. But Hamas continues to fire at Israel constantly and has failed to honor 6 consecutive humanitarian ceasefires. Yesterday (3rd  August), Israel uncovered a tunnel with three motorcycles and a large cache of weapons. Hamas was prepared to use this tunnel in order to carry out a terror attack inside Israel and return quickly to Gaza with hostages," Embassy of Israel in New Delhi said in a statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has deplored the recent upsurge in anti-Semitic attacks, particularly in Europe, in connection with protests concerning the escalation of violence in Gaza.

“The Secretary-General emphasizes that the conflict in the Middle East must not constitute a pretext for prejudice that could affect social peace and harmony anywhere,” said astatement issued late yesterday evening by Mr. Ban's spokesperson in New York.

According to media reports, since the start nearly a month ago of the Gaza conflict, demonstrations against the violence in several European countries and elsewhere have sparked anti-Semitic attacks, hate speech and, in some instances, even violence.

“He firmly believes that the conflict needs to be solved through an immediate cessation of violence and negotiations,” said the Secretary-General in his statement.
