France: Gunfire rocks Marseille

Marseille, Feb 9 (IBNS): Amid reports of gunfire, the police have started their operation in French city of Marseille Monday, media reports said.

The incident occurred at a time when country's Prime Minister Manuel Valls  is due to visit the city.

A police operation was under way Monday in an estate in the French city of Marseille where residents said "Kalashnikov shots" were fired "in the air", sources close to the case was quoted as saying by The Local news portal's French edition.

No casualty has been reported so far.

The country witnessed terror attacks last month which killed 17 people.
