At UN Assembly, Bosnia and Herzegovina appeals for scale-up in foreign investment
“We are too small of a country and region to achieve it alone. We do not have either enough capital to build industrial facilities to respect the principles of ‘green economy’, or sufficient capital in order to protect natural resources and put it in the position of sustainable development,” Nebojša Radmanovic told the 69th high-level debate.
One of the main challenges to development in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the declining foreign investment which was 34 per cent lower in 2013 than 2012.
He said that the country cannot achieve by itself the sustainable development which involves investments in the real sector of the economy, building transportation infrastructure and development, poverty reduction, effective and rational use of resources.
Radmanovic is one of 196 speakers addressing the General Assembly over the course of the high-level debate which lasts one week. The theme of this year’s debate centres on the post-2015 sustainable development agenda that will follow the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
