7.3 earthquake hits Indonesia

Jakarta, Nov 15 (IBNS) An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale hit North Maluku Province of Indonesia on Saturday.

"The 7.3-magnitude earthquake rocked North Maluku on Saturday at 09:31 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB). The quakes epicenter was located 1.95 degrees northern latitude and 126.46 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 48 Km, some 137 km northwest of West Halmahera," Antara news gecny reported.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 156 km southeast of Ternat.

Following the earthquake, the Indonesias Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) had issued a tsunami warning for some provinces in eastern Indonesia.

No casualty or major damages to property has been reported so far.
