He hit six boundaries and four sixes in his knock but Kamran Shazad took his wicket to prevent him from reaching his hundred.
Behardien later took on the opposition and showed is hitting ability as he hammered the ball three times outside the park beside playing five boundaries.
Rilee Rossouw (43) and David Miller (49) also contributed with their willows.
"It was hard work. They made it difficult for us. I was happy with the way we fought throughout," AB de Villiers said after the match.
Mohammad Naveed picked up three wickets for the UAE.
With Swapnil Patil remaining unbeaten at 57, the UAE batsmen failed to deliver against the mighty South African attack and were bowled out for 195 runs.
AB de Villiers, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel took two wickets each for South Africa.
South Africa moved to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
