IPL 2017: KXIP beats RPS by 6 wickets

Rajkot, Apr 7 (IBNS):Kings XI Punjab defeated Rising Pune Supergiant by 6 wickets to begin their journey in the tenth edition of Indian Premier league ,on Saturday.

Chasing a target o 164 set by RPS, KXIP reached the target comfortably with the help of skipper Glen Maxwell's unbeaten 44 along with Miller's 30.

Imran Tahir took two wickets for RPS but that could not save the first loss of his.

With a half century of the most expensive player of IPL 10, Ben Stokes, Rising Pune Supergiant managed to set 164 as target for Kings XI Punjab to win despite losing early wickets.

While batting first, Pune lost some key players like Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane early but an unbeaten 40 runs innings of Manoj Tiwari along with Stokes helped them to put 163 on the scoreboard.

Axar Patel took one wicket conceding 27 runs while MS Dhoni once again failed to get a decent score.

Pune has won their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
