Invitation Bridge Tournament: Bangur Cement collects 96.38 victory points

Kolkata, Aug 25 (IBNS): Bangur Cement represented by Suman Sengupta, Kamal Mukherjee, S K Aiyenger, V Todi, A Bagaria and Debashish Roy led the field, collecting 96.38 victory points (VPs) at the end of the sixth round in the Team event on the opening day of the fifth Invitation Bridge Tournament organised by Tollygunge Club here Fri.day.

Satish Mody’s team consisted of A K Brahmchari, A mukherjee, S Roy Chowdhury, M M Giri, A Chakrabarty and D Pramanik are at the second spot with 83.66 VPs. They are being followed by  Secunderabad Club  whih amassed    76.74 VPs.Secunderabad Club team is consisted of Davinder Nath, P Paria, Maj Genl ( Retd) R Gossain, V Jacob and Lalit Gupta. 

Arijit Da’s team and Dkshin Kolikata Sangsad also did well to be at the to be at the fourth and fifth position with 74.50 and 73.79 VPs respectively.  Last year’s champions Sarthak Behuria’s team are yet to get going fully as they are now in sixth place winning 73.65 VPs .

Out of the eight teams fielded by the host Tollygunge Club, “Tolly’s Sunshine” did best to be at the 8th position behind Hemant Jalan’s team
With 70.13 VPs. The lone all ladies team consisted of Kanika Badrinathan, Gonglu Dasgupta, Suman Sahgal and Shrmistha Brahma are now at 21 st position with51.09 VPs.

After six more rounds of play  tomorrow eight top teams would be selected for  the inal round of the Team event which would be held on the concluding day Sunday along with Pair event.

Nearly about 200 bridge enthusiasts including  many India internationals representing 25 top social clubs from fifteen cities In the country  are  competing in this prestigious event the only of its kind in the country. The event is  sponsored by Shree Cement along with Manjushree Group and  Medica  Super Speciality Hospital and supported by Goodricke, Agarpara Jute Mill and Veedol.(EOM)
