Kolkata/IBNS: A blazing half-century by Will Jacks powered England to post a challenging target of 203 against Italy in their Group C clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday.

Jacks remained unbeaten on 53 off just 22 balls, helping England recover from a precarious 105/5.

He stitched together a crucial 54-run partnership with Sam Curran for the sixth wicket and followed it up with another valuable 35-run stand alongside Jamie Overton for the seventh wicket, steering England to a formidable total.

For Italy, Crishan Kalugamage was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for 41 runs, including the dismissal of Curran, who scored 25.

Overton, who played an aggressive cameo, was eventually dismissed by Grant Stewart, who finished with figures of 2/51.
