Zurich, June 5 (IBNS): The world governing body of football, FIFA, is keeping a close eye on Qatar's preparations for 2022 World Cup, following the recent developments that took place centering the country, according to media reports on Monday.

The political developments which compelled FIFA to monitor the preparations at the present time, include the snapping of diplomatic ties with Qatar by nations like the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrein, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya's National Transition Council and Maldives and the temporary banning of airline by some countries.

"FIFA is in regular contact with the Qatar 2022 Local Organizing Committee and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy handling matters relating to the 2022 FIFA World Cup," according to an official statement made by a spokesperson of FIFA.

Qatar is the country to host the 2022 World Cup which will be held in the winter to avoid the scorching heat of summer.
