Ex-Pakistani cricketers appreciate team for defeating England in semi-finals

Islamabad, June 15 (IBNS): Former Pakistani players appreciated their national team after they defeated hosts England to reach the final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy on Wednesday.

Former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan, under whose leadership the nation had won 50-over World Cup in 1992, tweeted: "Now the whole nation awaits our team making amends in the final against India - if they defeat Bangladesh."

Former skipper Shahid Afridi said the win made the country proud.

"You make us proud team Pakistan! What a stunning comeback after first loss, silencing/shocking critics. Such a joy. Pakistan Zindabad ," Afridi posted.

Former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq wished the team for the final and said:"Great win pakistan stay blessed all our prayers and wishes for the final."

Pacer Shoaib Akhtar tweeted: "Well done green caps you guys done it style by winning so easily keep going 1 more game to go ..Proud of you Pak team."

Pakistan defeated England to qualify for the final of the 50-over tournament.

India and Bangladesh will face each other in the other semi-final.

If India win the match then fans must be overjoyed as they will witness the two rivals facing each other in the final of the tournament.

India and Pakistan had earlier fought in the final of the World T20 in South Africa in 2007.

MS Dhoni's men had defeated neighbours to win the inaugural World T20 title.

In this tournament, India defeated Pakistan in their first match.
