Evin Lewis' unbeaten 125 steer Windies to a victory against India in lone T20 match

Jamaica, July 10 (IBNS): In a lone T20 match on Sunday, Evin Lewis' unbeaten 125-run innings helped the Windies team to maul India by nine wickets.

Winning the toss, Windies skipper Carlos Brathwaite opted to bowl first but it were Indian batters who dominated the first part of the match.

Both the openers, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, got off to a good start with the bat and eventually posted a total of 190/6 in 20 overs.

While Kohli got out at 39, Dhawan was dismissed for 23.

After their fall of wickets, it was the partnership between Dinesh Karthik and young Rishav Pant which steered India to a competitive score.

Karthik and Pant scored 48 and 38 respectively.

Jerome Taylor and Kesrick Williams from the host nation shared two wickets each.

Coming out to chase the total, Windies were right on top from the beginning and scored the necessary runs with more than an over left.

Though Gayle got out for 18, Evin Lewis went on to score a century.

After the 82 runs first wicket partnership, Lewis was aptly supported by Marlon Samuels later.

Samuels remained unbeaten at 36 from 29 balls.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav picked up the solitary wicket of Gayle.

India's fielding was miserable on the day.

While Lewis was dropped by Mohammed Shami and Dinesh Karthik twice, MS Dhoni missed two stumping chances during the West Indies batting.

Earlier, India won the ODI series against Windies by 3-1.
