London/UNI:  The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday named 24 women cricketers who will return to training on 22 June in a bid for a return to competitive action before the end of the season.

The players will adhere to the same precautions as England Men have implemented, with the training taking place in 'bio-secure' environments, ECB said in a statement.

Six venues will be used for the players, with the National Performance Centre in Loughborough and Chester Boughton Hall CC in Lancashire joining four county grounds - Headingley, The Oval, Bristol County Ground and the County Ground in Hove - in hosting the sessions.

Each of the 24 selected players will initially train individually before the sessions progress to small-group training.

"We remain hopeful of playing cricket this summer and it's exciting for this group of players to be able to return to training," said Jonathan Finch, the ECB's director of women's cricket.

"Hopefully, this is one step closer towards England Women returning to the field this summer," he added.

The ECB are currently exploring the possibility of a tri-series with India and South Africa to take place in September.

Squad: Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Freya Davies, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Georgia Elwiss, Katie George, Sarah Glenn, Kirstie Gordon, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Bryony Smith, Linsey Smith, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Issy Wong, Danni Wyatt.
