Champions Trophy 2017: Tamim Iqbal's ton helps Bangladesh post 305/6 against England

London, June 1 (IBNS): In the first match of Champions Trophy 2017, Tamim Iqbal's 128 runs innings from 142 balls helped Bangladesh to post a total of 305/6 in 50 overs against England, on Thursday.

Losing the toss, Mashrafe Mortaza's team came out to bat and both the opening batsmen went off to a good start to score 56 runs in the first wicket partnership.

Bangladesh lost their first wicket as Soumya Sarkar was dismissed by Ben Stokes, while batting at 28.

Though Imrul Kayes went out without scoring big, it was the monumental partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim of 165 runs that helped Bangladesh to offer a huge target to England.

While Tamim scored 128 (142), Rahim lost his wicket to the bowler Liam Plunkett while batting at 79.

Lower down the batting line up, S Rahman's 24(15) pushed Bangladesh to cross 300 mark.

Plunkett had the best bowling figure for England with 4/59 in 10 overs.

Jake Bell and Ben Stokes shared one wicket each of Bangladesh batting line up.

The English batters will have to chase down the target set by Bangladesh at a run rate slightly higher than six per over.
