Yami Gautam's Article 370 becomes second Indian movie in two months to be banned in Gulf nations

Actor Yami Gautam's recently released movie Article 370 has hit a roadblock after it was banned in Gulf countries.

However, no official explanation for this step was provided by the certification board, reported India Today.

The movie was released in India on Friday (February 23, 2024) amid positive reviews from critics and moviegoers.

Over the past three days, the movie earned Rs. 25 crores at the Indian Box Office.

Film critic Taran Adarsh posted on X: "#Article370 SCORES BIG in its opening weekend… The growth on Day 2 and 3 was very much on the cards, but amassing a solid ₹ 25 cr+ in its weekend elevates it to the SUCCESS category… Fri 6.12 cr, Sat 9.08 cr, Sun 10.25 cr. Total: ₹ 25.45 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

Is the movie based on real-life incidents?

The film is set against the backdrop of the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and the autonomy granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir—a region administered by India.

Starcast

The political action thriller film was directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, who co-wrote the film with Aditya Dhar, Arjun Dhawan, and Monal Thaakar.

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the film stars Yami Gautam, Priyamani, Skand Thakur, Ashwini Kaul, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Arun Govil, and Kiran Karmarkar in pivotal roles.

Yami thanks fans

Yami thanked fans for loving the movie.

"When we were making ‘Article 370’, so many people told us that this film won’t work with the audience, ‘it’s too technical, too many political jargons etc etc’. But we went ahead with our gut because we knew those naysayers were underestimating our audience. Thank you all for proving them absolutely wrong," he said.

" Thank you so much for giving so much love to our small little film, with a big heart," she said.

Earlier Fighter was banned in Gulf nations
