‘Why can’t we live well?’: Kangana defends BJP MLA Maithili over Rolls-Royce visit to Lalbaugcha Raja following online trolls

| @indiablooms | Sep 20, 2026, at 11:46 pm

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut defended party MLA Maithili Thakur after she faced social media backlash for recently visiting Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja pandal in a Rs 13 crore Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Online trolls targeted MLA by questioning hoe could she afford such an expensive car despite joining politics a year ago.

Kangana was quick to defend her and wrote on her Instagram story: “Some people a**** start to burn whenever they see politicians living a good life. Now our young MLA is getting trolled for using a luxury car. We may be inclined to social service but we also have our own careers, life and popularity. We selflessly work for public welfare but some people get so hurt if they see us living well, why not? Why can't we also live well? We are not even interested in public money but to expect us to remain poor and lifeless is so irrational."

Thakur created history in 2025 when she beat RJD heavyweight Binod Mishra to become Bihar’s youngest MLA.

Thakur, who is a trained singer, contested the polls for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

She had gained attention in 2017 by contesting in  reality singing show Rising Star India.

She is highly followed online, especially on YouTube, where she used to share her singing videos.
