Salman Khan turns 49, rings in b'day with B-town friends

Mumbai, Dec 27 (IBNS): Bollywood's most eligible bachelor and heartthrob of millions Salman Khan, whose films make Box Office cash ring for many days, turned 49 years of age on Saturday.
Salman hosted a grand birthday bash on Friday night at his Panvel farmhouse.
 
The invitees included a host of guests from the film fraternity including Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra among others.
 
Salman, whose sister Arpita got married recently, intends to make it large this birthday as media reports said the star will have a week long celebration.
 
Amid celebrations. the superstar also posted his birthday cake image on Twitter for his fans.
 
The year is even special for the superstar whose last release 'Kick' made a whopping business at the box office.
 
The actor, who made fictional characters of Chulbul Pandey and Lovely Singh (among others) almost come alive, started his career with 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' but it was his second film as 'Maine Pyar Kiya' in which he acted in a lead role, garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
 
Some of his initial successful films include Khan 'Saajan' (1991), 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' (1994), 'Karan Arjun' (1995), 'Judwaa' (1997), 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' (1998), 'Biwi No.1' (1999), and 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' (1999).
 
He bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his extended guest appearance in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998).
 
The year 2009 marked a significant turning point in Salman's career, as his film 'Wanted', directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva, became a box-office success and earned him the superstar status.
 
Some of his recent films that had set new Box Office records are  'Dabangg', Bodyguard', 'Ready', 'Ek Tha Tiger', 'Dabangg 2'  and 'Kick'.
 
Since 2006, Salman is also a regular host of the reality show Bigg Boss, which is now in its season eight.
 
Besides acting, he is also  philanthropist and started an NGO Being Human Foundation, which is a registered charitable trust, for helping the cause of the underprivileged. His brand 'Being Human' sells T-shirts and other products online and in stores, from which a portion of the sales go to the cause of supporting the underprivileged.
 
The actors' upcoming films include 'Shuddhi', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Prem Ratan Dhan Pao'
