NHRC demands action against Ranbir Kapoor, Netflix and Gauri Khan over 'vaping' scene in The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Mumbai/IBNS: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)has demanded action against Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, streaming platform Netflix and producer Gauri Khan over a "vaping" scene in recently-released web series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood is the directorial debut of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan.

The action has been demanded in connection with a scene where Ranbir is seen smoking an e-cigarette, which is banned in India.

On the basis of a complaint, the NHRC wrote to the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting appealing for an action to ban suc content that may influence youth.

The commission has appealed to the Mumbai Police Commissioner to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Ranbir, Netflix and the producers in violation of the Prohibition of Electric Cigarettes Act 2019.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood, a seven-episode web series, features Lakshya Lalwani in the central role.

Lakshya plays a budding actor without any lineage hustling to make a place for himself in the Hindi film industry.

In the web show that has received rave reviews, a huge number of B-Town actors including Shah Rukh Khan made guest appearances.

One of the actors to play a cameo was Ranbir Kapoor, who was shown vaping towards the end of the show, which premiered on Netflix on September 18.
