Madhur Bhandarkar to join International Yoga Day celebrations at UN

Mumbai, June 19 (IBNS): Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who is known for making films like 'Fashion', 'Page 3' and 'Chandni Bar', has been invited to join the International Yoga Day Celebrations at the United Nations.

The invite to the filmmaker was extended as the special Guest of Honour for the First International Yoga Day Celebration by the Permanent Representative of India, Ambassador Ashoke Mukherjee.

The celebration will be held in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and India's External Affairs Minister  Sushma Swaraj along with Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravishanker.

Ambassadors of 193 member countries are also likely to attend the function.

Madhur Bhandarkar will also share his thoughts on Yoga with the distinguished guests at the UN Premises.

The celebration marks its unique significance at global stage as Yoga Day will be celebrated in all 193 UN Member countries including 47 OIC, Islamic Nations, by the Indian Missions.

Bandarkar is also likely to travel to the Times Square immediately after the UN celebrations to address the 30000 strong crowd gathered there.

The filmmaker who himself believes in living a healthy life is happy to be part of such a prestigious event.

When called, Bhandarkar confirmed, "Yes, I am going to New York to attend the International Yoga Day Celebration.  It is an honor to part of such a prestigious event".
