Karan Johar announces cast of his next directorial film Takht

Mumbai, Aug 9 (IBNS): Director-producer-actor Karan Johar has announced the cast of his next directorial Bollywood project Takht.

Takht, which will be a historical film, has a power-packed cast. It stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in diverse roles.

Karan tweeted to say, "I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT"

Speaking about his film, Karan had earlier tweeted, "An incredible story embedded in history... An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne... A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession... TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE...."

Following the announcement, Alia, who started her Bollywood career in Karan Johar directorial film Student Of The Year back in 2012, said she can't wait to get back on the shooting floor of Takht.

She said in an Instagram post, "TAKHT ❤️❤️❤️ Iove you karan.. Can't wait to get back onto set with you... this time for this historical magnum opus! 🙌💫💫💫 So honoured to be a part of this magnificent cast.."

Karan had played the directorial role for the last time in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which released in 2016.
