Fox Studio ropes in ISRO to celebrate first anniversary of Mangalyaan with The Martian

Mumbai, Sept 24 (IBNS) On the occasion of one year anniversary of successful launch of MANGALYAAN (Mars Orbiter Mission), Fox Star Studios is hosting a special screening of THE MARTIAN for the scientists of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and their families.
The screening of the film is being held in Bangalore and Ahmedabad on Thursday and Saturday  respectively. The screening will be followed by fun engaging activities to give an experience of Mars to the families of the ISRO scientists.

Sunder Kimatrai, EVP Asia Pacific, 20th Century Fox, says “The Martian is a highly entertaining film based on a best-selling novel about a dramatic space rescue mission to bring back a scientist stranded alone on Mars, and screening this highly realistic film set in a world not too far advanced from our own was our way of acknowledging the efforts of the Mars Orbiter Team team at ISRO lead by Dr Arunan on their first anniversary of Mangalyaan entering Mars orbit and being only the fourth space agency to do so.

"Since the earliest days of cinema, movies have been inspired by stories of space and science, and in return films inspire people to stretch further and reach higher in pursuit of their dreams. We congratulate everyone at ISRO on this special occasion,” he says.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.

Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission.

As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.

The Martian is releasing in India on  Oct 2 on Gandhi Jayanti. The film will be dubbed in three languages- Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
