Film and TV actor Mukul Dev dies at 54, celebs mourn his demise

Mumbai/IBNS: Film and television actor Mukul Dev died after a brief illness on Saturday. He was 54.

After falling ill, the actor was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital.

He was survived by his brother, Rahul Dev, an actor and former model.

Mukul Dev made his film debut in 1996 with Dastak and went on to appear in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, and Jai Ho.

He also acted in several TV shows including Gharwali Uparwali and Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat.

Mukul Dev, who was a trained pilot on the other hand, wrote the screenplay of Hansal Mehta's Omerta.

Sushmita Sen, who also made debut with Daktak alongside Mukul, mourned the actor's demise in an Instagram story.

"Mukul Dev, Rest in peace you wonderful soul," wrote Sushmita.

Actor Vindu Dara Singh wrote on X, " Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev ! The time spent with you will always be cherished and #SonOfSardaar2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing !"

Mourning his demise, actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote on X, "It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss. Miss you meri jaan…until we meet again, Om Shanti."

Jr NTR says, "Saddened by the passing of Mukul Dev garu. Remembering our time in Adhurs and his commitment to the craft. My condolences to his family. Om Shanti. "
