'Dhamaka' fulfilled my dream to become journalist: Mrunal Thakur

| @indiablooms | Oct 30, 2021, at 11:50 pm

Actress Mrunal Thakur, who starred alongside Farhan Akhtar earlier this year in 'Toofan', is back on the silver screen now as a journalist in Ram Madhvani directorial 'Dhamaka', which stars actor Kartik Aaryan in the lead role. As the film's trailer is out, IBNS correspondent Souvik Ghosh brings some of her words on the project

Though your role is a special cameo, it seems quite effective. You have seen journalists throughout your career. Now how is it like being on the other side of the fence?

Many people are unaware that I was pursuing journalism (as a student). I always wanted to be a crime journalist. This film is all about gaining and losing (in life). For me, the opportunity to play the role was valuable and important. I had to watch the videos and workshops to play the role of a journalist whose job is very tough.

I am really proud of all the journalists. The role was difficult but very important for me to discover many things about myself and fulfill my dream of college days through this film.

On working with Ram Madhvani.

Ram Madhvani is like a dream director to work with. I made sure to make it work the moment I got the opportunity. I literally had to rush from the set of 'Jersey' to 'Dhamaka', which was shot in just 11 days!

On Ram Madhvani's style of direction.

Generally an actor gets the script scene wise but I got it for 'Dhamaka' chapter-wise. The script was divided into nine chapters and Ram sir made sure that each and every chapter went through the workshops, all were on the same page.

On workshops before doing the film.

Due to the workshops, we just went into the floor and finished the scenes in two or three takes maximum. It was a brilliant experience of my life. I was craving to work with my dream director, Ram sir, for a long time. Working in the film is a jewel which I have collected in my jewellery box.
