Deepika Padukone slams influencer for passing sexist comment

| @indiablooms | Feb 01, 2022, at 04:48 pm

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone hit back at influencer Freddy Birdy who had allegedly passed a sexist comment on the actress' choice of clothes during the promotions of upcoming Hindi film 'Gehraiyaan'.

Sharing a post titled 'Newton's Law of Bollywood' on Instagram, Birdy wrote, "The clothes will get tinier as the Gehraiyaan release date approaches."

Hitting back at the influencer without taking any name, Padukone wrote on Instagram, "Scientists say the universe is made of protons, neutrons and electrons. They forgot to mention morons."

After backlash, Birdy came out in his support claiming he was not mocking the country's leading superstar.

Defending his comment, the influencer said, "Dear Deepika, I am not "mocking you" for wearing tiny clothes. You can wear your hemlines till your toes or your ears. For all I care. And thank you for calling me a 'moron.' It's the only non-fake thing you've uttered in your entire career."

'Gehraiyaan', which is directed by Shakun Batra, has already created ripples on social media with its contemporary take on love and relationship which was captured in its trailer.

As the film's release date (Feb 11) is approaching, Padukone and her lead co-stars, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, are busy promoting the films.

The film will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
