Debutant Mustafa goes from fat to fit!

Mumbai, Feb 17 (IBNS): Nobody would have thought that debutant Mustafa would be the lead star of a Bollywood film 5 years ago.

You will be surprised to know that the actor who is all set to blow your mind with his first film Machine, was as much as 70 kgs over weight not too long ago.

“I was 120 kgs and would eat anything and everything because I was and am still a foodie. I started reducing my weight four-five years ago, but that was for health reasons”, Mustafa told a leading daily.

The foodie underwent vigorous training and followed a healthy lifestyle for many years to shed the extra weight.

The actor added, “It took me five years to lose around 70 kilos and reach my current weight 55kgs. The first week of dieting was the most difficult. I started eating boiled food, in small portions six times a day. It comprised boiled veggies, chicken, eggs, brown rice and sweet potatoes. Simultaneously, I started working out and did everything from functional to weight training, alternated it with cardio twice a week – I used to run 21 kms.”

However, he didn’t do this to become an actor. In fact, Mustafa was keen on following the footsteps of his father and uncle. The actor originally wanted to direct films and also went so far as to study film direction in New York.  He started off as an assistant director on Machine before the director duo decided that he was best suited for the lead role.

Jayantilal Gada (PEN) presents, Haresh Patel - Pranay Chokshi & Abbas Mustan Films Production. Produced by AD films (Haresh Patel), Pranay Chokshi, Dhaval Jayantilal Gada (DG) and Abbas-Mustan, Machine stars Mustafa & Kiara Advani.

The film is directed by Abbas-Mustan, written by Sanjeev Kaul with director of photography Dilshad V.A. and is slated to release on 17th March 2017.
