Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities are posting interesting images on Instagram to show how they are celebrating Karwa Chauth with their partners on Sunday.
The instagram pages are lit up with all glamorous images of the celebrities.
Actress Shila Shetty shared the image and wrote on Instagram: "Wishing you all a happy Karvachauth and happy fasting ladies ..May you and yours be blessed with health, protection and abundance always ."
Actress Yami Gautam also shared a glimpse of her celebration and wrote: "The joy of celebrating my first Karvachauth is unmatched & it became more special as I wear @bulgari Mangalsutra."
Actress Sonali Bendre also shared her celebration and wrote with her image: "I have always believed that traditions are what you make of them... to me they are a bridge between the past, present and future. Bendre shared an interesting fact with her fans that she was wearing her wedding lehenga after 19 years.
" Fun fact… I’m wearing my wedding lehenga from 19 years ago by @manishmalhotra05 and have paired it with this beautiful mangalsutra from @bulgari. Then and now, the worlds can meet, if you just approach it with love," she said.
What is Karwa Chauth?
Karwa Chauth is a festival celebrated by Hindu women from the Indian Subcontinent on the fourth day after Purnima (a full moon) in the month of Kartika.
Like many Hindu festivals, Karwa Chauth is based on the lunisolar calendar which accounts for all astronomical positions, especially positions of the moon which is used as a marker to calculate important dates.
The festival falls on the fourth day after the full moon, in the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Kartik.
On Karwa Chauth, married women, especially in North India, observe fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands.
