Alia Bhatt joins Tumbbad 2 cast, says 'It's incredible to be part of this world'
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has officially joined the cast of Tumbbad 2, ending months of speculation over her association with the much-awaited sequel to the cult horror-fantasy film.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by actor-producer Sohum Shah, who welcomed Alia to the franchise with a social media post.
Sohum Shah confirms Alia's entry
Sharing the news on Instagram, Sohum wrote: "A new chapter unfolds. Welcome to #Tumbbad2, @aliaabhatt."
The sequel is scheduled to hit theatres on December 3, 2027.
'Tumbbad has stayed with me'
Speaking to Bombay Times, Alia said she has long admired the world created by Tumbbad and was thrilled to become a part of its next chapter.
"Tumbbad has stayed with me ever since I first watched it. Very few films create a world that feels this original and immersive, and even fewer continue to grow in people's imagination years after they've released. That's what makes this opportunity so exciting."
She added: "To now become a part of that world is incredibly special. I'm looking forward to working with Sohum and Nawaz, two artists I've admired for a long time, and to exploring a character that belongs to a story as rich, mysterious and unforgettable as Tumbbad. I can't wait for audiences to experience what we're creating together."

Cast and crew
Directed by Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad 2 will feature Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a key role alongside Sohum Shah and Alia Bhatt.
The original Tumbbad (2018) earned cult status for its unique blend of mythology, horror and fantasy, and has continued to gain a loyal following over the years.
Alia's upcoming projects
Alia was last seen in Alpha, an action entertainer co-starring Sharvari.
She is also gearing up for the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, which is slated to hit theatres later this year. The film reunites her on screen with her husband Ranbir Kapoor and actor Vicky Kaushal.
