Akshay Kumar starrer Gold earns Rs 71.30 cr at box office

Mumbai, Aug 20 (IBNS): Akshay Kumar starrer Hindi film Gold has collected Rs. 71.30 crore in just five days at the Indian box office.

After a dip in the collection on day 2, Gold picked up its earnings from the third day of its release.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Gold has an EXCELLENT *extended* opening weekend... Took a dip on Day 2, but gradually picked up from Day 3 to Day 5... All eyes on Mon-Thu biz... Wed 25.25 cr, Thu 8.10 cr, Fri 10.10 cr, Sat 12.30 cr, Sun 15.55 cr. Total: ₹ 71.30 cr. India biz."

The movie released on India's Independence Day (Aug 15).

Along with Akshay, Gold, which is a hockey-based movie, features Mouni Roy in the lead role.

Mouni is a popular face in Indian television.

The movie is directed by Reema Kagti.
