Adnan Sami granted citizenship, feels he is 'home'

Mumbai, Jan 2 (IBNS) Singer Adnan Sami, who is now an Indian citizen, on Saturday said he feels that he has finally made it home.

Quoting from the film 'Gandhi', Sami tweeted: "'I've traveled so far. And all I've done is come back... home.'(Quote from the movie 'Gandhi') ."

Sami on Friday thanked the Indian government for granting him the citizen in the nation.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the singer tweeted: "My Profound thanks to Honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for approving my Indian Citizenship.A New birth!"

"I'm highly indebted to the Honourable HM @BJPRajnathSingh ji for his tremendous support in granting me Indian Citizenship," he said.

The  singer, who has his roots in Pakistan, had earlier made a representation  to the Indian home ministry on the issue.

The singer was last given a  visa extension to stay in India in October, reports said.
