Woman killed in hit-and-run accident in Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: A middle aged woman died after being hit by an over-speeding SUV in south Kolkata's Kalighat area on Saturday morning, reports said.

According to reports, a Hazra to Rasbehari crossing bound speeding SUV hit the woman, while she was crossing road near Kalighat tram depot, and escaped the scene following the accident.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police, however, are examining CCTV footage of the area to identify the killer vehicle and to nab its driver.
