WB: 6 IPS officers reshuffled, Pranav Kumar becomes new DIG of CID

Kolkata, Jun 25 (IBNS): In a reshuffle in the IPS cadre, West Bengal government on Monday made Pranav Kumar the new DIG of state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), reports said.

Pranav Kumar was serving as the DIG of Murshidabad Range.

Besides Pranav Kumar, the state transferred five more senior police officials, a notification issued by the government said.

According to the notification, senior IPS official Bastab Baidya, who was the DIG of Midnapore Range, has been appointed as the new DIG of Murshidabad Range.

Commissioner of Howrah Police Commissionerate, Devendra Prakash Singh, has been replaced by senior IPS officer Tanmay Ray Chaudhuri, who was serving as the Deputy Director of Directorate of Economic Offences in the rank of DIG.

Tanmay Ray Chaudhuri will also supervise Howrah (Rural) Police as a Range DIG while Devendra Prakash Singh will replace Bastab Baidya as the DIG of Midnapore Range, the notification stated.

Meanwhile, replacing Bharat Lal Meena, Commissioner of Siliguri Police Commissionerate, Sunil Kumar Choudhary, has been posted as the new DIG of Presidency Range while Meena has been appointed as Siliguri Police Commissioner in the rank of DIG.

Sunil Kumar Choudhary will also supervise the operations of Baruipur, Diamond Harbour and Sunderban police districts under South 24 Parganas district and Barasat and Basirhat police districts under North 24 Parganas district, the notification added.

State government's Home and Hill Affairs department also directed Burdwan Range's IGP Subrata Kumar Mitra to supervise the activities of Hooghly (Rural) police in addition to East Burdwan and Birbhum districts.
