Waiting for Govt's response on snooping on citizens: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

| @indiablooms | Nov 01, 2019, at 10:35 pm

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Accusing the BJP-led Union government of snooping on the citizens illegally and unconstitutionally, Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday demanded the government's response on the matter.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Vadra posted, ''If the BJP or the government has engaged Israeli agencies to snoop into the phones of journalists, lawyers, activists and politicians, it is a gross violation of human rights and a scandal with grave ramifications on national security. Waiting for the government's response.''
Denying the media reports on WhatsApp snooping, the Centre on Thursday had said that it is committed to protect the right of privacy.

In a statement, the Government had said that reports regarding the breach of privacy of citizens are completely misleading.

''Government committed to protect the fundamental rights of citizens, including the right to privacy, and will take strict action against any intermediary responsible for breach of privacy,'' the statement read.
