Uttar Pradesh fights COVID-19: Night curfew to be imposed from Dec 25

| @indiablooms | Dec 24, 2021, at 07:08 pm

Lucknow/UNI: In the wake of increasing Covid-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh and other states of the country, the state government has decided to impose night curfew from Dec 25.

It would be effective between 11 pm to 5 am in the morning.

The government has also decided to restrict the number of people gathering in public events, including marriage functions, up to a maximum of 200.

It may be noted that UP has recorded 49 new cases in the past 24 hours and the tally of total active cases has gone up to 266. It may also be mentioned that the night curfew in UP was lifted completely on October 20.

Chairing a high-level meeting here UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while pointing towards increasing Covid-19 cases in other parts of the state, said, "Keeping this in view some stern steps are needed to be taken.

Night curfew should be imposed from December 25 across the state. The night curfew will be effective between 11 pm in the night to 5 am in the morning."

"Maximum 200 people should be allowed in public gatherings, including marriage functions and the organisers would have to inform the local administration about the event," he said while issuing a string of instructions to combat the situation.

Yogi said that the traders should be made aware with the message of 'no mask, no sale'. Mask should be made mandatory for everyone on roads and markets. Police should remain on patrol and public address system should be made more effective.

The CM said, "Tracing and testing of every person entering the limits of the state either from offshore or from the other state should be done and additional vigilance should be maintained at the railway stations, bus stands and the airports."

He said that the monitoring committees have done a commendable work in COVID management. "In the wake of the third wave they should be reactivated.

Every person coming from outside must be tested and continuous monitoring of his health should be done. If needed people should be quarantined and admitted in the hospital," he directed.

Yogi said that keeping in mind the third wave the government has made systematic arrangements in advance, which should be reviewed.

"Medical facilities available in all government and private medical institutions should be retested closely and Covid-19 help desk and Day Care Centers should be made active again at the industrial units," he said.

He said that by administering more than 19.14 crore Covid-19 vaccines and conducting more than 9.14 lakh tests UP is a leading state in vaccination as well as testing.

More than 6.73 crore people have been fully vaccinated and more than 12.41 crore have received their first shot.
