Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla gets extension till Aug 2021

New Delhi/UNI: The Government on Saturday extended the tenure of Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla up to August 22 next year. He was due to retire on November 30, this year.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, "The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension in service of Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS as Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs beyond the date of his superannuation that is November 30, 2020 up to August 22, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier."

An IAS officer of 1984 batch of Assam and Meghalaya cadre, Ajay Bhalla was appointed as Union Home Secretary on August 22 last year.

Before assuming the responsibility of Home Secretary, he also served as Secretary to the Power Ministry.
