Two persons arrested for doctor assault incident in Assam’s Biswanath district

Guwahati: Two persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in another doctor assault incident in Assam’s Biswanath district.

According to the reports, a senior medical officer 81-year-old Dr Basanta Goswami was allegedly attacked by a mob at Majuligarh tea estate in Biswanath district on June 9 evening while the doctor was returning from his evening walk.

His domestic help staff had rescued him from the mob and the doctor had received severe injuries in his body.

Later Biswanath district police had registered a case (no – 167/21) under Section 143/447/352/325/307 of IPC and R/W Section 51(B) of DM Act at Biswanath Chariali police station following an FIR lodged by the doctor.

Police on Friday had arrested two among the culprits who attacked the doctor and they were identified as Ajit Tanti and Sujit Tanti.
