Two of gangster Vikas Dubey's accomplices arrested in Kanpur

Kanpur/UNI: Two of gangster Vikas Dubey's accomplices were arrested here by Kanpur police on Monday.

Identified as Jaikant Bajpai and Prashant Shukla, police said that the duo was arrested after a couple of days of interrogation.

During the interrogation, both the accused admitted that they had handed over 25 cartridges of the licenced revolver of Jaikant along with Rs 2 lakh in cash to Vikas in Bikaru village in the morning of July 2, the day when Vijas and his goons gunned down eight policemen.

The accused also tried to help Vikas and his accomplices to flee from Kanpur after they ambushed the policemen by arranging three SUVs for them.But due to police checking, all the vehicles were left abandoned in Kakadeo area on July 4.

Police said that the arrest was made after lodging of an FIR under various section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with 7CLA Act. An additional case under section 29/30 of the Arms act too, has been lodged against Jaikant for providing cartridges of his licenced arms to Vikas.

Earlier it was reported that Jaikant was the main financier of Vikas and was put under the radar of ED and IT departments.
