Twenty-eight farmers fined in Fatehgarh Sahib for stubble burning

Fatehgarh Sahib/ UNI: As air pollution levels in the national capital soar to 'severe' levels, authorities in the neighbouring Punjab have initiated action against 28 farmers in Fatehgarh Sahib district on Monday.

Following this, environment compensation of Rs 92,500 was recovered from them.

A total of 28 farmers were found guilty of stubble burning but police has completed process of registering FIR against 21 farmers so far.

Fatehgarh Sahib Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Jagwinderjit Singh Sandhu today said district administration is taking action against the farmers who are practicing stubble burning method in the agrarian state.
