Told you so... Navjot Singh Sidhu not fit for border state: Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh

Chandigarh/IBNS: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has called Navjot Singh Sidhu, who resigned as the Punjab Congress chief Tuesday, as an unstable man and unfit for the border state.

In a tweet, Amarinder Singh said, "I told you so…he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of punjab."

Sidhu has sent his resignation letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.

In his resignation letter, Sidhu wrote, "The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab.

"Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress."

Sidhu's resignation will be a shock to the Congress high command, which was instrumental in appointing Sidhu as the Punjab unit chief going against the will of then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Sidhu is also close to new Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who replaced Captain Amarinder Singh barely days ago.

According to reports, Sidhu was upset over a few recent appointments and cabinet reshuffling.

Now the situation once again turned ugly for the Punjab Congress as the state will head to assembly polls early 2022.
