TMC sweeps civic polls in West Bengal, BJP distant second

Kolkata, Aug 17 (IBNS): Continuing the winning streak in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) swept all seven civic polls with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging a distant second, media reports said on Thursday.

The seven civic bodies in which elections were held on August 17  are :Nalhati, Haldia, Buniadpur, Durgapur, Dhupguri, Cooper's Camp and Panskura.

According to the local media reports, in Nalhati, the TMC has won in 14 seats out of 16 while  two seats are shared between the Left and Others.

In Buniadpur, the TMC has won 13 out of 14 seats while the BJP could manage to win a single seat.

In Dhupguri, the TMC secured their win in 12 out of 16 seats while the runner-up BJP did better here with four seats under their belt.

The TMC clinched their victory in 17 seats of Panskura civic body out of 18, leaving one for the saffron party.

In Haldia, Kuper's Camp, Durgapur, the TMC has won all the 29, 12 and 43 seats respectively.

The Congress could not open their account in any of the civic body.
