‘Sugar kam karwa do papa ki’: Influencer’s viral plea to PM Modi gets response
New Delhi/IBNS: Exhausted by repeated attempts to curb his father's sugar intake, a social media influencer turned to Prime Minister Narendra Modi—and the unusual appeal actually worked.
In an Instagram reel, influencer Yuvraj Dua urged the Prime Minister to intervene. “Sugar kam karwa do papa ki (please reduce my father's sugar intake),” Dua wrote, explaining that his father is an ardent admirer of Modi and treats his words as “instructions”.
Responding to the request, Modi reshared the reel on Instagram and appealed to Dua’s father—and the public at large—to cut down on sugar.
“On Yuvraj’s request, I urge his father (and everyone else out there) to reduce sugar intake... be healthy, be happy,” the Prime Minister wrote in an Instagram story.

In a follow-up post, Modi highlighted the health risks of excessive sugar consumption, warning that it can lead to multiple diseases and increase the risk of obesity.
He also encouraged people to adopt yoga as a way to stay fit and active.
"Excessive sugar invites a range of diseases. Then of course, there is the looming threat of obesity," he said before adding, "Also, do make yoga a part of your lives."
Dua, visibly surprised by the response, described the moment as “surreal”, admitting that he never expected the Prime Minister to actually take notice of his appeal.
